The $80 set

Recently for Younglife I was asked to put together a set design that would center the room and change the retreat center feel of cabin into something they could use to bring 260 plus kids together and create energy for their "So You Think You Can Dance" competition for students. The pic above is about half the design. We got a stretched fabric panel above the floor, lights, more fabric up front for color, then 4 X 8 styrofoam panles free hanging from the ceiling by fishing line. The video below reveals the full set. I had about a 4 hour build time.

Dumb question but Did yall paint the 4x8 panels? And are those the panels that are one sided with aluminum foil that they sell at Home Depot.

good question... yes we painted the pink panels with a hot pink light reactive paint for the blacklight rave late night they would have and then left the aluminum ones alone but threw lighting on them to make them pop.

Thanks, as we are in our 2nd month of having our youth service, something that I have been praying about has been doing a stage or a setup where everything is focused, right now we use our social hall, and we are all over the place in their, but I didn't know if doing a set design would be difficult, but from your pics, I want to get some folks together and just go for it.

Hey, I sent the pic to your gmail. Let me know what you think. Its a huge hall, we can take those tables out. Whatever we do, we just have to be able to take it down every week, but we have tons of rooms to store pieces...
