glory... some people love to soak it up

QUICK QUESTION?

Have you ever watched someone take credit for something you're doing or have done?

Maybe you know someone or are someone that has a bad habit of accepting praise for things they haven't done. For example: A leader in your area begins a project or has an idea. Your supervisor, customers, or co-workers pass you in the hallway and praise you for the "great job" you're doing. Do you correct them and funnel their accolades to the leader under you? Or, do you say nothing or pseudo absorb it? That's not cool. When people around those kinds of people see how they talk about it like it was their idea or completely absorb it, it has a way of building mistrust and secrecy.

Here's a tip... Don't absorb or fail to deflect praise for things you did not create or are not currently executing. When you share what that leader is doing don't convey it in a way that makes it sound like you are the one who came up with it or decided to do it. Say their name. Say it clearly, Share it proudly.

P.S. If the idea tanks you have spent all that energy claiming or appearing like it was your idea and at that juncture you just shot yourself in the foot because everyone thinks it was your idea.

Don't screw up in this area.
